We, the team members of the BetterUp Product Org are excited to share our stories and learnings from building experiences in pursuit of BetterUp’s mission: to help people everywhere pursue their lives with greater clarity, purpose, and passion.

The following are some perspectives that we hope to provide.

We are rapidly growing startup

The BetterUp Product Org consists of Product Managers, Software Engineers, Product Designers, and People Scientists geeky about our craft and delivering incredible experiences for our users. We want to give you a glimpse into the processes, techniques, and culture that enable us to keep up with the pace of our growth without sacrificing the quality of our product.

We are a distributed team

Since the beginning, our Product Org has been a remote-friendly team, honing the art of distributed product development. We have some tips we’d like to share, like: How do we empower all team members, including the less vocal ones, to share their thoughts on conference calls? How do our squads learn about overlapping initiatives and collaborate?

We practice positive psychology

In pursuing BetterUp’s mission, we lean heavily on positive psychology research, not only in designing our product, but also in establishing our internal culture. For employees to show up to work as their best selves, we believe that it is crucial to normalize practices that bring out the Whole Person, like giving room for each person to both hone their strengths and work actively on our growth areas.

We hope that by opening up to you about our experiences trying (and sometimes failing) to bring the principles of positive psychology to our customers and team, you feel inspired to do the same at your workplace.

We are committed to learning

BetterUp was one of the first of now dozens of startups that have leveraged tech to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing. As this industry continues to grow, we want to collaborate with other product builders so that we can bounce ideas off one another and innovate, ultimately to reach more people and help them more effectively.
